Gideons Bakehouse Review
When I started planning my Walt DisneyWorld trip I knew Gideons Bakehouse would be at the top of my list in terms of snacks. They are always mentioned on Disney Food Blog and are famous for having the longest queue ever for baked goods! Gideons Bakehouse is located in Disney Springs and is a small bakery that creates some of the most incredible cookies and cake slices. Their menu is small with some limited edition items but their reputation is not! People will queue for hours to get their hands on a Gideons Bakehouse cookie and the line can reach around the block.
I made sure to arrive early at Disney Springs before Gideons opened at 10am and even then there was a queue, but I can definitely say it was worth the wait. After waiting in line for around 20 minutes we were called forward to enter the store. The first thing that hits your senses is the smell, it smells like the most delicious chocolate and its so strong that your mouth starts watering before you even see the cakes and cookies on offer. The bakery's unique charm is evident in its dark and mysterious decor, adorned with antique curiosities and vintage artefacts. The lighting is very low and the majority of walls are covered in dark wallpaper creating a real sense of mystery as you walk in.
I had already pre-chosen the cookies that I wanted and decided to go for two of the original chocolate chip, what completely caught me off guard were the iced coffees that were on offer and so I decided to treat myself to a peanut-butter cold brew iced coffee. Honestly im not the biggest lover of coffee and tend to favour the sweeter drinks....this peanut-butter cold brew was the most delicious drink I have ever had, it was the perfect ratio of coffee and sweet peanut butter and tasted like a reeses cup. It was silky smooth and just cold enough that is was enjoyable and didn't invoke brain freeze. Honestly id go back just for the coffee but the cookies were phenomenal too! The original chocolate chip cookies were soft but packed with chocolate chunks and topped with salt flakes to break through the sweetness. I think its hard to score the perfect chocolate chip cookie but this was definitely up there!
